Abstract :

A new method is described for Lewis acid catalyzed formation and cycloaddition of N-nosyl nitrones, which has produced 1,2-isoxazolidines that can be deprotected under mild conditions without accompanying ring cleavage. The divergent reactivity of N-sulfonyl oxaziridines in the presence of titanium and copper catalysts is examined.
