Abstract :

Rifting and seafloor spreading between two carbonate platforms that constituted a portion of a large platform or two contiguous carbonate banks gave rise to the Isparta Angle. Diachronous rifting and spreading around a point near the Angle's apex is responsible for its triangular shape. Simple shear extension mechanism for rifting and passive margin is supported by the general asymmetry in the structures of the conjugate platform margins of the Isparta Angle.
