Abstract :

A number of general chemistry textbooks used by top producers of American Chemical Society-approved chemistry baccalaureates are analyzed in terms of the treatment of rates of change concepts in reaction kinetics. Results revealed interesting patterns and variability among the texts that is not explained by the degree to which a text is calculus-based.
