Abstract :

An analysis of responses from 642 American, 174 French, 243 Danish and 139 New Zealanders to questionnaires on the levels of participation of students and parents in the three leisure dimensions of Sports-Action, Aesthetic-Intellectual and Social-Entertainment reveals cross-cultural differences in leisure activities. Similarity in leisure activities in Americans and New Zealanders resulted from psychological similarity based on identical culture, historical background and economic development. The French and Danish groups revealed similarities due to cultural factors.
