Abstract :

The Burlington Free Press is changing editorial policy to be more responsive to community interests. The Free Press is owned by Gannett, and is managing the change under the publisher's News 2000 program and has had this plan in implementation since Jun 1991. There is more local involvement in the paper, but some journalists complain that the Free Press is catering to local interests and feel good news at the expense of important issues such as education.
