While the French Air Force (or le armee de I'Air) didn't play much of a role in World War II, it did have dozens of types of bomber and attack aircraft in its inventory in the period leading up to and during the war. Little has been written about these. The authors' goal is to document the French bomber fleet in a single-volume, English-language reference work. They approached the task with what amounts to a three-part narrative: French bomber design and manufacture in the interwar period, the military operations that led to France's surrender, and an encyclopedic look at each French bomber type.
