Faye was born in Brakenig, ON, August 21, 1934, to Roy and Ann Trouten. She attended nursing school at Western and then Dalhousie. During her 30-year nursing career she held a number of positions including Head Nurse of the OR at the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, Director of Continuing Nursing Education at the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax, and consultant for St. Francis Xavier University School of Nursing, Continuing Care Program, Antigonish. In her later career she focused on home care and was recognized by VON Canada with the prestigious Lady Ishbel Aberdeen Award.
