Abstract :

The studies related to the effect of introduced large herbivores on the abundance of Ixodes ricinus ticks and their Borrelia infections in natural woodland in The Netherlands are reported. The negative effect of grazing on small rodents as well as on ticks but not on Borrelia infections could be used as guidelines for management of woodland reserves and risk of Lyme disease.
