Abstract :

The effects various tillage and planting system treatments on the crop residue content of soil surface were evaluated. Sixty-nine tillage and planting systems treatments were used in the investigation, including field cultivation, till-plant, no-till plant, chisel plow and blade plow. These treatments were implemented in an experiment site using conventional agricultural equipment, such as the fertilizer applicator and stalk chopper. Results show that only the no-till approach was able to provide residue cover levels equal to or greater than 40% after planting.
