Abstract :

Incumbent firmsE ability to preempt a new market before a new entrant does is analyzed in the face of uncertainty of growth of demand. The paper proposes two scenarios with differing probabilities of entry of new challengers; one being in the case of low demand and the other being high realization of demand, with an inverse probability of entry.
