Abstract :

A study was conducted to investigate the prevalence of necrotizing cutaneous mucormycosis in individuals following a tornado that struck Joplin, Missouri, in 2011. Results indicated a high prevalence of necrotizing cutaneous mucormycosis, thus highlighting the need for increased awareness of fungi as a cause of infection after a natural disaster.
