Abstract :

The effects of perfusion mechanics on collateral flow were evaluated in isolated canine hearts during alterations in coronary sinus pressure elevation and cardiac contraction. Collateral circulation was impaired by the individual application of coronary sinus pressure and cardiac contraction. However, the combined application of coronary sinus pressure and cardiac contraction enhanced myocardial blood flow in the peripheral ischemic regions of canine heart.
