Abstract :

The article explains the socialist critic A. Sivanandan was ahead of his time when, in the late 1970s and early 1980s, he outlined the impact information technology would have on the working class and the economic character of production. Sivanandan saw how new technology would change the way in which capital was used and how it would create a global economy and reduce the need for skilled laborers.
