Overview
Urvashi Vaid is a community organizer whose involvement in the gay/lesbian and feminist movement spans more than fifteen years. Vaid served as the executive director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force (NGLTF) for three years and as that organization's director of public information for an additional three years. She is a former staff attorney with the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), where she worked on behalf of prisoners in the ACLU's National Prison Project. She has written widely in the gay and mainstream press and in 1995 will publish a book on the politics of the gay and lesbian civil rights movement.
