David Suzuki
Overview
David Suzuki is an award-winning Canadian geneticist and the founder of the David Suzuki Foundation. He began hosting the CBC show The Nature of Things with David Suzuki in 1979 and has authored or coauthored more than 50 books. In 2011 he received the George Woodcock Lifetime Achievement Award, sponsored by the Vancouver Public Library.
David Suzuki was born on March 24, 1936, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. In the early 1900s, his grandparents left Japan and settled in Canada. During World War II, the government sent many Japanese families, including the Suzukis, to live in internment camps in the mountains of British Columbia.
