Nicklas Lidstrom, formerly of the Detroit Red Wings, was one of pro hockey's greatest defensemen ever. He won the Norris Trophy for best defenseman in the National Hockey League (NHL) six times, and played on four championship teams. Lidstrom was also the first European-born captain of a Stanley Cup winner. In addition, he scored the winning goal for Sweden in the gold-medal game of the 2006 Winter Olympics. In June of 2015 Lidstrom was named to the Hockey Hall of Fame.
