Overview
Energy efficiency is the concept of using less energy to do the same function or service. It is also getting more from the same amount of energy used. Countries and companies began to innovate ways to increase energy efficiency in 1973 when fears of an oil shortage spread panic in the West and Japan.
Since then, energy efficiency has helped reduce energy use. In addition, it has become the cheapest and easiest way to curb greenhouse gases (GHGs) that lead to climate change. Finding ways to improve energy efficiency is a high priority among many researchers, engineers, and scientists.
