Kamala Harris
Overview
Kamala Harris was elected vice president of the United States in 2020. She is the first woman, the first Black person, and the first Asian American to hold the office. Harris is an attorney and a politician. Prior to the 2020 election, she had served as a US senator representing the state of California.
The daughter of immigrants, Kamala Devi Harris was born on October 30, 1964, in Oakland, California. Her father was from Jamaica and taught at Stanford University. Her mother was from India and was a cancer researcher.
