Migrant Workers
Overview
Migrant workers in the United States travel from state to state, usually to work in the agricultural industry, for at least part of the year. Migrant workers may be citizens of the country in which they work, but oftentimes they have traveled from another country to find better opportunities. They may work in construction, manufacturing, and other industries, as well as in low-wage jobs such as domestic servants.
In the United States, many migrant workers are farmworkers. The US Department of Labor refers to them as migrant and seasonal farmworkers (MSFWs).
