Greta Thunberg
Overview
Greta Thunberg is a teenage climate change activist from Sweden. Thunberg is renowned for founding the Fridays for Change movement. Students throughout the world skip school on Fridays to sit outside of government buildings. They protest leaders’ inaction to combat global warming and climate change. Thunberg is also well known for the “How Dare You” speech she gave at the 2019 UN Climate Action Summit in New York. Thunberg refused to fly because of the emissions produced by planes. She instead traveled to the summit on a zero-emission yacht, which took two weeks.
In 2019, Thunberg was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize and was the youngest person ever to become Time magazine’s Person of the Year.
