Overview
Bioethics is the field responsible for assessing ethical questions related to biology and the life sciences; where scientific questions might ask, "Is X possible?" or "How can we achieve X?" ethical questions ask, "Is X right?" or "Should we allow X?" Bioethical questions are often encountered in medical practice and research; however, bioethics also encompasses the ethical duties of governments, policymakers, and other stakeholders when considering matters of life. While many ethical dilemmas are complex and have no definitive answers, the field is generally concerned with striking a balance between perceptions of right and wrong when faced with difficult questions.
