Alternative and Renewable Energy
Overview
In a world filled with increasing apprehension about the threat and advancement of climate change, scientists, governments, and citizens alike seek solutions, many of which necessitate the switch to sources of energy that are more environmentally-friendly and less destructive to the planet. The environmental toll of fossil fuels—such as oil, coal, and natural gas—as evidenced in various scientific studies, points people toward replacing those fuels with alternative and renewable energy. Alternative energy generally refers to energy that does not require fossil fuels whereas renewable energy refers to energy from sources that can be replenished, although some sources of energy fit both categories.
