Sustainability refers to a philosophy and set of practices that preserves limited resources for future generations. Sustainability demands that new practices both create and manage resources used so there is no net negative drain on existing limited resources. Ideally, sustainable development promotes new practices (ecologic, economic, agricultural, land development, etc.) that preserve resources for future generations while at the same time increasing standards of health, wealth, access to resources, and overall standard of living.
