Lord of the Flies
Lord of the Flies is a novel written by Sir William Golding in 1954 that relays a tale of a group of schoolboys stranded on an uninhabited island. At first, the boys attempt to live an orderly life; however, they eventually succumb to baser instincts and become lawless, fearful, and violent. Golding’s tale implies that all of humankind is capable of malevolent deeds, and society is the source of order and stability.
