Renaissance and Reformation
A period in European history that lasted from about 1350 until the end of the sixteenth century, the Renaissance was marked by an artistic and scientific reawakening as Europe rediscovered the cultural and intellectual achievements of Classical Greece and Rome. Many significant social, economic, and political changes took place during the Renaissance, including the Reformation, an attempt at religious reform that ultimately splintered the Roman Catholic Church.
