Scientists say that if global warming remains unchecked, the changing climate will have disastrous effects on life on Earth, warning that it will most likely lead to mass species extinctions, rising sea levels, more intense storms, droughts and famines. Scientific evidence has found that global warming is primarily caused by excess greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, which are increased by a variety of human activities, including driving vehicles powered by combustion engines, burning fossil fuels, and removing trees and other vegetation from large forests.
